We are seeking a Mechanical Plumbing Technician to support the development and production of next‑generation National Defense High‑Energy Laser (HEL) systems. These systems rely on precision cooling, fluid, and mechanical subsystems and are designed to be rugged, compact, and capable of operating in demanding environments.
In this role, you will be responsible for the hands‑on assembly, installation, and maintenance of mechanical plumbing and cooling systems, including stainless steel and copper tubing, compression fittings, seals, and soldered joints. This position is ideal for a technician with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys working with fluid systems, pressure testing, and precision assemblies in manufacturing and clean‑room environments.
Work Environment: This position is onsite in Longmont, CO. Hands‑on laboratory and production environment supporting aerospace & defense programs.

Responsibilities:
+ Perform installation and integration of mechanical cooling and plumbing systems
+ Assemble and install copper and stainless steel tubing for water and gas systems
+ Build fluid assemblies using compression fittings, O‑ring seals, and soldered joints
+ Assemble plumbing components for pressure testing, chiller systems, and thermal control loops
+ Perform soldering and brazing of tubing and fittings as required
+ Conduct pressure testing, leak checks, and basic fluid analysis to verify system performance
+ Support fluid system maintenance, troubleshooting, and rework activities
+ Use hand and power tools to perform mechanical assembly and system integration
+ Inspect components and assemblies for workmanship, quality, and specification compliance
+ Follow engineering drawings, schematics, work instructions, and safety procedures
+ Maintain accurate documentation of builds, tests, and non‑conformances
+ Collaborate with engineers and technicians to support development, integration, and test efforts
Qualifications:
Required:
+ Strong hands‑on experience with piping and tubing systems, including copper and stainless steel tubing
+ Proven copper piping and soldering experience for fluid and cooling systems
+ Experience assembling fluid systems using compression fittings and O‑ring seals for water and gas applications
+ Demonstrated fluid system analysis experience, including pressure testing, leak detection, flow verification, and basic coolant or fluid condition monitoring
+ Experience assembling and maintaining fluid cooling loops, chiller systems, or thermal management systems
+ Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings, piping schematics, and work instructions
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools
+ High attention to detail with a focus on cleanliness, reliability, and quality workmanship
Preferred:
+ Experience supporting high‑reliability systems in aerospace, defense, laser, or electro‑optical environments

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Longmont, CO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $44.00/hr.
