Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Tax Preparer to join a boutique accounting firm in Los Angeles, California on a Contract basis. This opportunity is well suited for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who enjoys handling a broad mix of tax and accounting work while collaborating closely with firm leadership. The role offers exposure to individual and business tax matters, along with financial statement support for a diverse client base. Responsibilities: - Prepare individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns with a high level of accuracy and attention to deadlines. - Work closely with firm leadership to manage tax engagements from initial document review through final filing. - Use Lacerte Tax Software to complete returns and maintain organized tax workpapers. - Perform bookkeeping-related tasks and assist with the preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements. - Import, organize, and reconcile bank and credit card activity in QuickBooks and Excel to support accounting records. - Communicate with clients to gather required documentation, clarify financial details, and provide attentive service throughout engagements. - Handle multiple assignments independently while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and strong written documentation. - Contribute to a range of tax, accounting, and business support projects for clients across different industries. Requirements - At least 4 years of hands-on tax preparation experience, including both business and individual returns. - Proficiency with Lacerte Tax Software in a detail-focused tax preparation environment. - Working knowledge of QuickBooks for bookkeeping and financial record maintenance. - Advanced Excel skills, including downloading, sorting, and preparing financial data for upload and analysis. - Experience preparing or supporting monthly and annual financial statements. - Strong verbal and written communication skills with a client-focused approach. - Ability to work independently, stay organized, and complete assignments with accuracy and professionalism. - College-level accounting coursework required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
