WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Operate an EMS Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to coordinate and monitor emergency and non-emergency medical transport.
- Answer incoming calls, gather critical information from callers, and accurately enter details into the dispatch system.
- Assign and communicate calls to field crews, ensuring efficient response times while considering unit availability, location, and priority.
- Maintain constant situational awareness, tracking units and updating their status in real time.
- Provide callers with appropriate pre-arrival instructions when necessary.
- Transfer customers to the appropriate staff member when needed.
- Communicate professionally with hospitals, nursing facilities, law enforcement, and other agencies to coordinate resources.
- Document all call details, updates, and relevant notes clearly and accurately.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and protect sensitive company and employee data.
- Work closely with EMS crews to ensure the highest quality of service is delivered.
- Assist in resolving scheduling or dispatching conflicts by offering alternative solutions when needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and make quick decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of local geography, including highways, major streets, and landmarks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure 24/7 coverage.
- Previous dispatching or EMS experience preferred but not required-training will be provided.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in EMS, fire, or law enforcement dispatching is a plus.
- EMT certification preferred but not required.
