Job Description

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Operate an EMS Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to coordinate and monitor emergency and non-emergency medical transport.
  • Answer incoming calls, gather critical information from callers, and accurately enter details into the dispatch system.
  • Assign and communicate calls to field crews, ensuring efficient response times while considering unit availability, location, and priority.
  • Maintain constant situational awareness, tracking units and updating their status in real time.
  • Provide callers with appropriate pre-arrival instructions when necessary.
  • Transfer customers to the appropriate staff member when needed.
  • Communicate professionally with hospitals, nursing facilities, law enforcement, and other agencies to coordinate resources.
  • Document all call details, updates, and relevant notes clearly and accurately.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and protect sensitive company and employee data.
  • Work closely with EMS crews to ensure the highest quality of service is delivered.
  • Assist in resolving scheduling or dispatching conflicts by offering alternative solutions when needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and make quick decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of local geography, including highways, major streets, and landmarks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure 24/7 coverage.
  • Previous dispatching or EMS experience preferred but not required-training will be provided.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in EMS, fire, or law enforcement dispatching is a plus.
  • EMT certification preferred but not required.
