Description Robert Half is seeking an Interim Director of Accounting / Interim Controller for a large hospitality organization in Las Vegas, Nevada. This role requires a director-level accounting leader who is not afraid to get into the weeds. The interim leader will provide hands-on support to correct historical accounting issues, stabilize the close process, and strengthen accounting operations - while partnering closely with senior leadership. This engagement is intended to stabilize and transition, not to be a long-term permanent role. Key Responsibilities for the Director / Controller consulting resource: + Provide interim accounting leadership while remaining actively involved in execution + Assist various departments that may include, but are not limited to: General Ledger, Payroll, Compliance, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable + Lead cleanup of historical accounting issues and corrections impacting 2024-2025 + Support accelerated and reliable month-end close + Review and correct P& L classification and departmental allocations + Step into hands-on accounting work as needed (journal entries, reconciliations, corrections) + Evaluate and improve accounting workflows, including approval matrices + Partner with operational leaders to understand transaction drivers and historical practices + Coach and redirect internal accounting personnel toward forward-looking execution rather than retrospective clean-up + Assist leadership with readiness for future system and process improvements The ideal consultant must have + 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with prior leadership responsibility + Proven experience as a Controller, Director of Accounting, or senior accounting lead + Hands-on mindset - willing and able to do the work, not just delegate + Strong technical accounting foundation across payroll, AP, AR, and GL + Experience remediating accounting issues in complex, fast-moving environments + Comfortable operating in ambiguous or transitional situations + Ability to work onsite initially and communicate effectively with both finance and operations Requirements - A minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, including leadership roles. - Strong expertise in general ledger management, financial reporting, and reconciliations. - Proficiency with Workday ERP and related accounting systems would be preferred but not required. - In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and audit compliance requirements. - Experience in casino gaming accounting, including familiarity with Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS). - Proven ability to manage process improvement initiatives and stabilize accounting functions. - Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or business-related field; CPA is highly desirable.
