The Y has been a trusted leader in youth development for generations. From first steps to first jobs, we create opportunities for young people to grow stronger, lead with confidence, and build a future full of possibility-through sports, tutoring, mentoring, and more. As an Afterschool Tutor you'll help students achieve their academic goals, while assisting them in gaining more knowledge through academic support in math, science or English language arts.
In this role, you will partner with the YMCA after school program to provide 4 hours of after school tutoring to high school students on the campus of an LAUSD public school. Supported by a program assistant and YMCA Site Coordinate, the After School Tutor will provide a safe space for students to complete homework and school work, obtain tutoring services and advance academically. This is a seasonal position offered during the school year and on school days only.

To ease the onboarding experience, hired candidates will be provided with access to complete a mandatory TB Test clearance, at no cost, prior to their first scheduled shift. chosen candidates who already have a current TB test may provide the YMCA with a copy in lieu of completing a new test. The YMCA also provides all new employees with access to paid CPR/First Aid certification training, at no cost, to be completed within 60 days of hire. Chosen candidates who already possess a current TB test and/or who already possess a current CPR/First Aid certification, may provide the YMCA with a copy of their test results and/or certification in lieu of completing these items again.
