Description Job Summary: Our client in Oak Brook, IL is seeking a skilled Data Engineer with strong expertise in Azure, SQL, and exposure to Microsoft Fabric to join their dynamic team. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable data solutions that support business analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will be capable of working with modern cloud technologies, optimizing data pipelines, and ensuring robust data architecture that aligns with organizational goals. Key Responsibilities: + Data Infrastructure Design and Implementation: + Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to process structured and unstructured data. + Work with Microsoft Azure Data Services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Storage solutions. + Implement and optimize data architectures and solutions with exposure to Microsoft Fabric for integrated analytics. + Database Management: + Develop and manage complex SQL scripts for data transformation, storage, and retrieval. + Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency across databases and pipelines. + Design and maintain database schemas to maximize performance and scalability. + Data Integration and Analytics: + Collaborate with business stakeholders and data teams to gather and transform data for analytics and reporting purposes. + Enable self-service business intelligence by leveraging Power BI and integrating solutions into Microsoft Fabric. + Performance Optimization and Monitoring: + Perform troubleshooting, monitoring, and performance tuning of data pipelines, databases, and analytics queries. + Optimize query execution and ensure high performance standards across SQL and Azure environments. + Collaboration and Support: + Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and software developers to support broader data initiatives. + Provide expertise in Azure capabilities and serve as a go-to resource for advanced data projects. + Create documentation related to data workflows, pipelines, and architecture for internal use. Requirements Qualifications: Technical Skills: + Proven experience with Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, Blob Storage). + Strong expertise in SQL for data transformation, optimization, and advanced query development. + Exposure to Microsoft Fabric with an understanding of its role in enabling unified analytics and data integration. + Familiarity with modern data engineering practices like ETL/ELT processes, real-time data streaming, and cloud-native data solutions. + Experience working with relational and non-relational databases. + Proficiency with Power BI or similar visualization tools is a plus. Experience: + 3-5+ years of work experience as a Data Engineer in cloud-based environments. + Hands-on experience designing scalable and effective data architectures. + Experience in working with modern data tools and technologies like Azure SQL Databases and Azure Synapse. Education: + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Soft Skills: + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. + Focused on teamwork, collaboration, and delivering solutions with a customer-centric approach. Preferred Qualifications: + Certification in Microsoft Azure Data Engineering or Azure Fundamentals is highly desirable. + Exposure to other data tools and frameworks such as Apache Spark or Hadoop. + Understanding of advanced analytics capabilities, such as machine learning integration, is a plus.
