About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Job Cost Accountant to oversee and manage project-related financial activities. In this specialized role, you will be responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting cost information to ensure projects stay on budget, adhere to proper accounting protocols, and align with company objectives. This position plays a critical role in supporting decision-making by providing accurate cost insights and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as Section 263A and 471 rules for inventory costing.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Cost Analysis and Tracking: Maintain accurate cost records for individual projects, including direct and indirect costs. Analyze financial data to identify variances and offer actionable recommendations to project managers.
+ Project Budget Management: Collaborate with project teams to establish budgets, monitor spending, and ensure adherence to financial goals throughout the lifecycle of each project.
+ Inventory Costing: Apply expertise in regulations (e.g., 263A, 471) to manage inventory cost accounting processes, including capitalizing costs when necessary and ensuring compliance with governmental regulations.
+ Reconciliation: Regularly perform reconciliations between project-related accounts to ensure accuracy and consistency in reported financial data.
+ Reporting: Generate detailed financial reports, including cost summaries, variance analyses, and forecasts, to be shared with project managers, executives, and stakeholders.
+ Forecasting: Develop financial forecasts and projections to support strategic planning and optimize resource allocation.
+ Audits: Support audits and reviews of cost accounting systems to ensure regulatory compliance and resolve any discrepancies identified during audits.
+ Process Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to costing methods, systems, and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced certifications such as CPA or CMA are a plus.
+ Minimum of [insert years] years of experience in cost accounting, particularly with project-based or job costing.
+ Expertise with inventory costing under Sections 263A and 471, including capitalized and direct/indirect costs.

+ Strong understanding of GAAP standards and cost accounting principles.

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
