The Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI), named Best Rehabilitation Hospital in Indiana in 2022 and 2023, provides quality rehabilitation services to those facing life-changing injuries or illness. SUMMARY
This position exists to provide selected direct and indirect patient care activities for those members of the rehabilitation population not in need of constant attention of a licensed professional. The Nursing Rehabilitation Technician functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team under the direct supervision of a licensed nursing team member, to provide patient services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Observes and reports patient comfort and safety needs, potential problems, and behaviors with an awareness of the needs of the patient in order to provide input to the staff nurse in an organized efficient manner for use in patient assessment and care planning.
- Recognizes and reports changes in a patient's health status. Understands and follows patient plan of care within job limitations including completions duties as assigned or unassigned.
- Administers personal care to patients, including bath and skin care. Demonstrates fundamental understanding of rehabilitation concepts to meet elimination, nutritional and psychosocial needs of assigned patients. Demonstrates ability to handle patients at all developmental and cognitive levels with patience and tact. Encourages patients to be active in their care.
- Accurately completes documentation in compliance with department and regulatory timelines to ensure a complete medical record that supports skilled services and appropriate medical necessity.
- Responds consistently to direction of licensed clinical professionals in a positive manner. Demonstrates good judgment in setting own priorities in adapting work schedules and assignments. Responds quickly to call lights for all patients and offers other team members help without them asking.
- Focused on providing customer satisfaction (including, but not limited to, patients, coworkers, visitors, vendors and physicians) as a primary goal/outcome of all interactions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- CNA, medical assistant experience preferred but not required.
- CPR certification
