Position Summary:
The Assistant food Technologist is responsible to provide technical support aid in research and development and food safety activities.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Create ingredient declarations and nutritional table information and validate for
    accuracy and compliance to regulations
  • Participate in product development ideation
  • Assist in the development of new products and improvement to current products,
    through proper formulation and evaluation
  • Data entry and document scanning work when necessary including help with material
    tracking and the building of BOM's for the new MRP/ERP systems
  • Aid in the inspection & formal record-keeping of incoming food ingredients and
    packaging materials for compliance to all company and customer specifications. This
    includes label accuracy checks on new orders of packaging materials
  • Provide HACCP support work such as record keeping, inspections, verifications, and aid
    in validation work
  • Aid in the implementation of the company microbiological monitoring program and
    environmental testing program by taking samples, preparing them and shipping them
    to the proper laboratories and reporting and maintaining a log of results
  • Provide allergen program support work by aiding in allergen inspections and taking
    allergen samples, preparing them for shipment and maintaining a log of results
  • Aid in product shelf life studies by selecting samples, placing the correct number of
    samples in the different storage locations, pulling them at proper intervals, preparing
    the samples for both sensory and analytical testing
  • Performing ongoing product performance testing such as heat susceptibility testing,
    bag gas composition, leak testing, color comparisons, etc and report results
  • Perform product defect and non-conformance audits for certain items and maintain a
    log of defect levels in a database format
  • Understand and comply with all HACCP and CGMP requirements and processes
  • Understand and comply with RSPO and organic programs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science or related fields with some exposure to analytical,
    microbiological required
  • Sensory testing experience plus 1 to 2 years food science experience, preferred
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment a must
  • Analytical ability to research, identify, and resolve issues
  • Requires excellent oral, written, and communication skills
  • Requires operation knowledge of computer software (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook,
    Adonix, etc.)

The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $22.00 to $30.00 per hour based on years of experience, position responsibilities and geographic location.
