Provides engineering analysis and technical support to ensure continuing reliable operations of the electric power grid in compliance with NERC Standards, ERCOT Protocols and Market Guides. Provides electrical engineering analysis and technical support for the planning and operation of the electric power system. Implements appropriate system modeling, develops tools and procedures to monitor and control the system, performs system studies, analyzes simulated or actual operating results, develops solutions to current or future system issues, and appropriately reports findings and recommendations. JOB DUTIES Understands the basic principles, theories and concepts related to the profession and learns how to apply them within the ERCOT culture. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Contributes to specific objectives and outcomes as directed. ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES + Provides technical expertise to the ISO and Load Forecasting + Supports the development of load forecasting methodologies and training. + Assists in the formulating of ISO load policy issues. + Reviews and analyzes historical events for gathering data from independent sources to develop and utilize statistical models. + Creates estimates for the ERCOT Control Area annual energy and monthly peak models that involves economic forecasts, historical database updates and maintenance. + Assists in developing the ERCOT, state, and sub area energy and peak forecasts. + Develops and enhances energy efficiency models, demand response models, and other energy models (plug in electric vehicles, distributive generation models) and incorporates their impacts to the monthly demand and energy forecast. + Works under the direction of a senior level engineer or supervisor/manager to complete departmental goals and assignments. + Performs all work according to applicable rules and regulations including regulatory requirements and organization policies and procedures. + Learns how to use and develop software tools that enhance system reliability and departmental/organizational efficiencies. + May provide on the job training or help oversee the work of other engineers/analysts. + May act as mentor and advisor to less experienced engineers/analysts. + Typically works independently on assignments and projects. + Participates in multifunctional teams to obtain input, address comments, and perform studies. + Assists in developing tools, processes and procedures that enhance system reliability and departmental/organizational efficiencies. + Participates with other ERCOT departments to select and implement system changes as needed. EXPERIENCE + Level 1: Requires no minimum job related work experience in excess of degree requirements. + Level 2: Requires minimum 1 year job related work experience in excess of degree requirements. + Level 3: Requires minimum 3 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: + Experience using SAS, R, MetrixND, MetrixIDR, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. EDUCATION + Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Economics, Data Science, and Statistics or related field (Required) + or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required CERTIFICATION + PE Professional Engineer (Preferred) WORK LOCATION: + This position is Hybrid. Expected Salary Range: $82,344 - $131,720
