Pay: $144,872 - $231,795 / year. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option
The Director of Professional Development, RN, provides strategic and operational leadership for nursing professional development across the Metro Denver Region. This role is responsible for advancing clinical education, competency development, and lifelong learning initiatives that support high-quality patient care, workforce readiness, and regulatory compliance. The Director partners closely with nursing leadership, clinical operations, and academic stakeholders to ensure professional development programs align with organizational priorities, evidence-based practice, and the evolving needs of the healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities
The Professional Development RN Director plays a critical role in advancing the health system's strategic and operational goals by:
+ Providing leadership for nursing professional development, clinical education, and competency-based learning initiatives.
+ Aligning professional development strategies with organizational goals, quality outcomes, workforce development priorities, and regulatory standards.
+ Partnering with nursing and clinical leaders to assess learning needs, support change management, and promote professional growth across roles and career stages.
+ Leading continuous improvement efforts that enhance education quality, operational efficiency, and clinician engagement.
Core Responsibilities
+ Develops and implements departmental goals, strategies, and performance standards that align with organizational mission, values, and regulatory, legal, and ethical requirements.
+ Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including education technologies, learning delivery models, service level metrics, and issue resolution processes, to ensure high-quality outcomes.
+ Oversees workforce planning and talent management activities, including recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluation, corrective action, and ongoing professional development for education staff.
+ Prepares, manages, and evaluates departmental budgets; ensures responsible fiscal stewardship and compliance with allocated funding.
+ Coordinates and leads internal and external audits to maintain compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and organizational standards.
+ Uses data and outcome measures to evaluate program effectiveness and inform strategic decision-making.
Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a collaborative, strategic nursing leader with demonstrated experience in professional development, clinical education, or workforce development within a complex healthcare environment. This individual brings a systems perspective, strong operational acumen, and a passion for developing clinicians through evidence-based, innovative educational approaches. The Director is expected to effectively influence leaders, manage change, and balance strategic priorities with operational execution.
Required Qualifications
+ Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) Preferred: PhD or doctoral degree
+ Current State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Preferred: Nursing Professional Development certification or equivalent
+ Minimum of 5 years of relevant leadership or professional development experience
