**Job Title: Welder and Fabricator**
**Job Description**
This role focuses on welding and fabricating metal components and assemblies according to detailed blueprints and drawings. You will work with structural steel and various metals, using MIG and other welding processes, to produce accurate, high-quality finished products in a fabrication shop environment.
**Responsibilities**
+ Fabricate materials for finished assemblies according to drawings and blueprints.
+ Perform MIG welding and tack welding to join and assemble metal components.
+ Lay out structural steel using work points, linear and angular dimensions, and three-dimensional conceptualization.
+ Operate cutting torches, hand grinders, drills, and other hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
+ Prepare materials for fitting and welding, including beveling edges of steel for full penetration welds.
+ Cut, drill, grind, bevel, and modify materials to meet specifications on fabrication drawings.
+ Create templates, fixtures, and jigs to ensure safe, accurate, and repeatable assembly of finished products.
+ Read and interpret blueprints and drawings accurately to guide fabrication and welding work.
+ Apply shop mathematics to measure, layout, and verify dimensions and tolerances.
+ Use tape measures and other measuring tools to confirm accuracy of cuts, fits, and final assemblies.
+ Work with structural steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum as required by each project.
+ Support construction and mechanical fabrication needs through welding and fitting tasks.
+ Contribute to safe shop practices by maintaining a clean work area and using equipment properly.
**Essential Skills**
+ Hands-on fabrication experience in a metal fabrication or structural steel environment.
+ Proficiency in MIG welding for production and structural applications.
+ Ability to perform fitting work, including aligning, clamping, and preparing parts for welding.
+ Strong blueprint interpretation skills, including blueprint reading for fabrication and welding.
+ Ability to lay out structural steel using work points, linear and angular dimensions, and 3D conceptualization.
+ Experience preparing materials for welding, including beveling edges for full penetration welds.
+ Skill in operating cutting torches, hand grinders, drills, and related hand and power tools.
+ Proficiency in using tape measures and basic measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
+ Ability to understand and apply basic shop mathematics in layout and fabrication work.
+ Experience working with structural steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
+ Capability to perform grinding and finishing using grinders and related equipment.
+ Familiarity with welding processes such as flux core, TIG welding, stick welding, and robotic welding, in addition to MIG welding.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience creating templates, fixtures, and jigs for repeatable and accurate assembly.
+ Mechanical or construction-related fabrication work.
+ Comfort working with press brake operations in a fabrication setting.
+ Ability to adapt to working with different metals, including stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum.
+ Willingness to work extended shifts and adjust to varying shop conditions.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and assemblies.

**Work Environment**
This position is based in a fabrication shop environment where conditions can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, and the work area can be dirty due to the nature of metal fabrication. The role involves working with welding equipment, cutting torches, grinders, drills, press brakes, and other hand and power tools, as well as handling structural steel, stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum. Shifts typically run Monday through Thursday, with current schedules including a day shift and night shift.

This is a Permanent position based out of Taylors, SC.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $54080.00/yr.
