**Job Summary and Qualifications**
POSITION SUMMARY:
To respond to requests by the nursing staff or Physician staff assisting with emergency care within the Emergency Department according to protocols and polices approved by the Emergency Department Medical Director, and CMC hospital policy. Performs other duties related to the provision of care as assigned after appropriate training. Carries out functions consistent with total quality management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the guidance and direction of the Emergency Department Medical Director, and the general supervision of the Emergency Department Manager, and in accordance with standards of care and practice referenced by the State of New Hampshire Bureau of EMS Paramedic Patient Care Protocols and the established departmental policies and procedures, the incumbent performs the following functions:
1. Essential Functions: Patient Care:
+ Assessment:
+ Interviews the patient and/or family to obtain a comprehensive history and to obtain data about patient's development status, behavior, cultural, and health concerns.
+ Examines the patient to obtain objective physical data.
+ Reviews clinical data from diagnostic studies and previous records.
+ Completes a physical and psychosocial assessment based on interview, examination and review of clinical data.
+ Based on assessment, identifies diagnoses/patient care problems.
+ Collaborates with RN in triage by establishing priorities and initiating treatments.
+ Documents data and assessment on appropriate form according to instructions.
+ Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to address patient needs.
+ Reassesses patient status at established time frames and as indicated by the patient's status.
+ Reports status and changes in status as appropriate.
+ Assesses potential for development of crisis situations and asks for assistance.
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ Basic Cardiac Life Support
+ Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ Paramedic
+ High School Graduate / GED
