Program: Facilities


Reports to: Operations Director and Operations Associate Director

Primary Responsibility: Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Facilities Staff is responsible for facilities and operations requirements, services, and processes that support core day-to-day program functioning and assist physical maintenance as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform biweekly shopping at discount stores, retailers and partner agencies, including the San Francisco Food Bank, to maintain shelter sites and the DSP kitchen fully equipped with relevant supplies
  • Help with transporting supplies, equipment and other materials to and from sites; move equipment, furniture and other items at sites, as needed
  • Assist in assembling or disassembling furniture or in other physical projects on an as-needed basis
  • Monitor inventory of facilities, office, and kitchen supplies and cleaning products
  • Driving an agency vehicle, pickup/deliver meals to housing sites and supplies to and from sites
  • Requests repairs and enhancements, if needed
  • Inventory: Keep track of food and supplies inventory.
  • Assist janitorial staff with larger projects and fill-in for short-term absences
  • Arrange linen and dump run

General Duties

  • Maintain professional attitude and work ethic
  • Comply with Mission Action policies and procedures
  • Attend Mission Action's Staff Meetings, and other participate in other teams and committees, as assigned
  • Perform other organizational duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual fluency in spoken English and Spanish, and the ability to write fluently in at least English, required
  • Must have strong organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, and be reliable.
  • At least 2 years of experience providing services to homeless or extremely low-income adults
  • Proven ability to work with Spanish-speaking and LGBTQ adults
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Able to work flexible schedules

  • Work within the framework of the agency's mission, vision, values, theory of change, and organization's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, restorative justice, trauma-informed work, and language justice.
  • Commit yourself to treating each community member with respect and dignity
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions and Physical requirements:

  • Will work inside the building or outdoors.
  • May exposures to hazardous materials, loud noise, or extreme heat/cold.
  • Essential physical requirements include frequent climbing, standing, stooping, crouching, bending, walking and other physically demanding movements and tasks, often for extended periods of time.
  • Be able to duck, reach over, carry up, walk up, lift loads up until 50 lbs, and go up and down stairs, often for extended periods of time
  • May require working weekends or nights if needed.
