Position Overview
As a Dental Hygienist, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive dental care under the direct supervision of a licensed Dentistas per New York State guidelines. You'll be a valued clinical professional and a trusted educator to our patients, helping them achieve and maintain optimal oral health.
What You'll Do
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough reviews of medical/dental histories, including medications, allergies, and periodontal status
- Take and process digital dental radiographs (X-rays)
- Prepare patients for treatment with professionalism and care
- Perform oral cancer screenings and full periodontal assessments using both manual and visual techniques
- Apply fluoride and other preventive agents to arrest decay
- Provide occlusal sealants and complete routine prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, and polishing
- Document all findings and treatments in the patient's electronic dental chart
- Assist in the diagnosis and detection of oral conditions such as caries, periodontal disease, and TMJ disorders
Patient Education & Care:
- Deliver individualized oral hygiene instruction
- Support patients in developing personalized oral health goals (brushing, flossing, nutrition)
- Promote long-term dental health through education and compassionate communication
Infection Control & Safety:
- Follow rigorous infection control protocols
- Ensure sterilization and proper storage of instruments
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program
- NYS Dental Hygienist License
- Minimum of 2 years' experience preferred
- BCLS Certification
- Completed NYS Infection Control Training
Preferred Skills:
- Proficient with electronic dental records and digital imaging
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or French a plus
- Exceptional communication, attention to detail, and a passion for patient care
- Strong team player with a professional and warm demeanor
