Job Summary: The University of Alabama System Office in Tuscaloosa is currently receiving applications for the position of System Fellow, an undergraduate student position supporting the Office of External Affairs, reporting to the Special Assistant to the Chancellor.


REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be enrolled in a UA System Campus undergraduate degree program at UA, UAB or UAH.
  • Must be registered for at least six (6) credit hours during Fall/Spring semesters.
  • Must be available to work at least 15 hours per week.
  • Ability to prioritize duties in a manner that allows for flexibility in responding to changing demands
  • Initiative to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and provide appropriate status updates
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills on telephone, in person, and via email
  • Must be age 19 and have three years of driving experience

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Tracking legislation in accordance with the Office of External Affairs/Alabama Legislature
  • Assisting with special projects pertaining to Board documents, memorandums, logistics, current events, etc.
  • Submitting semesterly reflections on your experience as a System Fellow
  • Answering a multi-line phone system
  • Copying, scanning, filing, and mailing documents
  • Setting up and breaking down conference rooms for meetings and events
  • Distributing packages and mail
  • Making deliveries and handling courier assignments in Tuscaloosa
  • Exhibiting a professional attitude with all staff, visitors, and other student assistants

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, hours vary by semester depending on office needs.

Note to applicant: This position is a part-time position working at least 15 hours, but no more than 20 hours per week. Preference will be given to applicants who are available to work as soon as possible. This position is renewable on a semesterly basis.
