Job Summary: The purpose of the Group Leader is to motivate the workforce to meet production and quality requirements while maintaining a safe work environment. This individual has the authority to enforce policies and procedures that govern the production floor and to assign, direct, discipline associates as necessary to accomplish assigned tasks.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years of college or equivalent experience
  • Three to five years of experience in manufacturing environment or combination of education and experience.
  • Intimate knowledge of welding, metal stamping and forming, and/or paint operations
  • Automotive manufacturing experience to include knowledge of customer releasing and shipping requirements
  • Very strong sense of urgency and the ability to get things done
  • Must be people oriented

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, develop and conduct evaluations of assigned associates
  • Make sure daily manufacturing requirements are met to meet customer demands
  • Ensure conformance to all quality systems and standards
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment for self and subordinates
  • Coordinate manufacturing schedules with Production Control
  • Work closely with cross-functional departments to ensure an adequate supply of raw materials, WIP, MRO items, and human resources
  • Meet financial goals as outlined in the business plan
  • Coordinate with all parties to ensure new product launches are defect free and on time
  • Help identify areas for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with Federal/State/Local safety and environmental regulations
  • Seek ways to reduce waste, manufacturing byproducts, and hazardous raw materials
  • Report and enter daily scrap in CMS
  • Inspire teamwork among associates
  • Solve production problems

Working Conditions

  • 20% office, 80% plant floor (PPE required)

Effort/Physical Demands

  • Constant communication with employees, peers, and management
  • Overtime as required

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use/wear equipment, protective devices or certain clothing as required by the company
