Description
The Controller will be responsible for the complete financial oversight of the club, including financial statement preparation, month-end close, cash flow analysis, and management of accounting operations. With major construction projects on the horizon, the ideal candidate brings not only deep accounting expertise but also strong attention to detail and experience with capital planning. This is a key leadership position that works closely with the General Manager, Board, and Committees to ensure the club's financial health and strategic direction. This is a contract to hire position. Will start at 5 days a week in office, could decrease after ramping up period.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
+ Prepare accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements
+ Manage the month-end close process and ensure all accounts are properly reconciled
+ Provide cash flow analysis and financial forecasting to support operational and capital planning
+ Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
+ Track and report on expenditures related to capital improvements and construction projects
+ Work collaboratively with auditors (experience with RSM a plus) and financial institutions (familiarity with Truist preferred)
+ Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with all financial regulations
+ Present financial updates to the General Manager and Board of Directors
+ Support the club's Finance Committee with regular reporting and budget reviews
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
+ Proven CFO or Controller-level experience, preferably in a private club, resort, or hospitality setting
+ Ability to work independently and confidently manage the full scope of financial operations
+ Exceptional attention to detail, especially as the club evaluates a $40M member-approved construction project
+ Strong understanding of financial processes related to construction planning and capital projects
+ Commitment to long-term employment and alignment with the club's values and culture
+ Experience with HOAs or community associations is a plus, but not required
+ Familiarity with Jonas software preferred, but not mandatory
+ High level of integrity, reliability, and organizational skills
