PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Provides information to members regarding mortgage loan products, takes mortgage loan applications in person, by phone, and by mail. Processes mortgage loan applications and prepares closing documents. Approves mortgage loans within loan officer authority. Works toward overall credit union goal of providing superior service to members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides members with information regarding credit union mortgage loan services in person, by phone, and mail. Evaluates each member's needs and recommends the appropriate mortgage loan type.
2. Takes member's loan applications in person, by phone, and by mail. Responsible for obtaining complete information on all loan applications received and documentation needed to process the application.
3. Assists in processing approved applications by preparing disclosures, mortgage forms, and closing documents. Orders appraisals and title work when required.
4. Makes disbursements to members on existing equity line loans. Responsible for verifying availability of funds and eligibility of members, i.e., proper identification, before making disbursements. Completes proper documentation for each disbursement.
5. Is familiar with and helps maintain a current manual of all CFCU mortgage loan policies and guidelines.
6. Is knowledgeable of all laws and regulations regarding consumer lending, particularly Reg B, Reg Z, RESPA (Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act), CFPB and HMDA (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act).
7. Abides by signed, written loan officer agreement. All applications are to be underwritten according to credit union loan policies.
8. Must meet qualifications to be approved for the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System.
9. Accurately completes loan officer report for credit committee on weekly basis.
10. Assists in preparing and maintaining all required reports for the mortgage loan function, monthly reports, and mortgage loan adjustments.
11. Ability to learn in-house underwriting standards of mortgage loans and home equity lines of credit.
12. Conducts closings for home equity lines of credit.
13. Assists with processing business loans including preparing business files, documents, and reports.
14. Maintains familiarity with other credit union products and services and aggressively uses all opportunities to cross-sell.
15. Performs other duties as requested.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education

• High School diploma is required. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is preferred. Strong work experience in mortgage and/or consumer lending may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Experience

• Prefer one year's experience within a financial institution. Good computer skills and knowledge are required. Prior mortgage loan experience is preferred.

Physical, mental and visual requirements

• The responsibilities of this position require the ability to move freely from one area of the building to another. Excellent visual, audio and manual dexterity skills are needed, as the work ranges from use of a personal computer, printer, calculator and typewriter, to extensive use of the telephone. This position requires the ability to function in an environment of occasional high stress.
