The Finance Manager supports all financial operations at Finance New Orleans (FNO), overseeing budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance functions. Reporting to the Chief Financial & Technology Officer (CFTO), this role drives financial strategy, ensures operational excellence, and supports the organization's mission to invest in climate resilience, affordable housing, and economic development. The Finance Manager plays a key role in building systems that scale, strengthening partnerships, and delivering fiscal transparency across the organization.


This is a high-impact opportunity for a mid-career finance leader to manage core financial operations and help build a future-ready finance department. You'll partner closely with the CFTO and executive team, serving as a trusted internal strategist while executing financial functions with precision. This role is ideal for someone ready to step into increasing leadership over time.


What You'll Do

Financial Strategy & Reporting

  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
  • Build dashboards and models that translate financial data into strategic insights
  • Deliver financial reports and presentations to the executive team and Board of Trustees
  • Provide analysis to guide key investments and program decisions

Accounting & Compliance

  • Oversee daily accounting: A/P, A/R, reconciliations, and payroll
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and local/state/federal regulations
  • Support audits, financial statement preparation, and internal controls

Systems & Operational Excellence

  • Implement and optimize ERP and financial software systems
  • Use BI tools like Power BI to drive transparency and operational efficiency
  • Standardize financial processes and documentation for improved accuracy and workflow

Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Manage relationships with auditors, banks, and funding partners
  • Collaborate across departments to support grant and programmatic finance
  • Represent the finance team in organization-wide planning and strategic initiatives

Team Leadership & Special Projects

  • Supervise and mentor finance team members
  • Build a culture of accountability, service, and continuous improvement
  • Take on special assignments and cross-functional projects for the CFTO

What You Bring

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's, CPA, or CGFO strongly preferred)
  • 6-8 years of progressive finance experience, ideally in public, nonprofit, or mission-driven settings
  • Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and regulatory compliance

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and public finance standards
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with systems like Sage 50, SharePoint, and Power BI
  • Excellent communicator-confident in presenting complex information to varied audiences
  • Strategic mindset with strong project management and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated leadership in team development and financial operations
  • Highly adaptable, resourceful, and committed to equity and impact
