**Job Title: Structural Welder**
**Job Description**
We are seeking a skilled Structural Steel Welder to weld and fabricate structural steel components for a variety of construction and industrial projects. This role involves working with beams, columns, and girders, interpreting blueprints and welding symbols, operating multiple welding processes, and consistently following safety and quality standards in a busy production environment.
**Responsibilities**
+ Weld and fabricate structural steel components, including beams, columns, and girders, using 3/32 and 0.45 wire.
+ Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, schematics, and welding symbols to ensure accurate layout, fit-up, and assembly.
+ Operate MIG and stick welding equipment to produce strong, consistent welds that meet project specifications.
+ Use oxy-acetylene torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and other common welding shop power tools to cut, shape, and prepare metal.
+ Fit and position structural steel parts prior to welding, ensuring proper alignment and tolerances.
+ Inspect completed welds for quality, strength, and compliance with specifications and production standards.
+ Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and construction teams to meet project goals and production schedules.
+ Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform basic adjustments on welding equipment to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
+ Follow all safety protocols, shop rules, and industry standards to prevent accidents and injuries.
+ Perform post-welding activities such as grinding, cleaning, and polishing to finish welded assemblies.
+ Work in a production-oriented environment, contributing to efficient workflow and continuous improvement of processes.
**Essential Skills**
+ Proven experience in structural welding and metal fabrication, particularly with structural steel components.
+ Proficiency in MIG and stick welding techniques using 3/32 and 0.45 wire.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
+ Experience with structural steel welding and MIG structural welding in a production environment.
+ Ability to use an oxy-acetylene torch safely and effectively.
+ Skilled in using common welding shop power tools, including grinders and other metalworking tools.
+ Strong attention to detail with a focus on weld quality and adherence to specifications.
+ Effective problem-solving skills to address fit-up, distortion, and other fabrication challenges.
+ Physical stamina and the ability to work in challenging environments, including at heights.
+ Ability to work safely and consistently follow established safety procedures and guidelines.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience with flux core welding processes.
+ Experience in fitting and layout of structural steel components.
+ Previous work in a high-volume production or fabrication shop environment.
+ Comfort working both indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures.
+ Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with engineering, fabrication, and construction teams.

**Work Environment**
The role is based in and around a large structural steel production facility in El Mirage, AZ, with work performed both indoors and outdoors. The shop uses swamp coolers and fans to provide a somewhat climate-controlled environment and is organized, with new production lines being added to support growth and efficiency. The setting is a busy structural steel shop that relies on MIG and stick welding equipment, oxy-acetylene torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and other standard welding and fabrication tools. Employees can expect a hands-on, industrial environment focused on production, safety, and teamwork, with appropriate work attire and protective gear required for a welding and fabrication facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of El Mirage, AZ.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
