Role:

The Loan Collections Specialist supports both lending and collections functions with a focus on two key areas: processing loans and managing delinquent accounts. From preparing documentation and disbursing funds to working through early-stage and more serious delinquencies, you'll help ensure a smooth, member-focused lending experience. This role plays a critical part in maintaining portfolio quality while staying aligned with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.

Description of Duties:

  • Monitor and collect loans delinquent over 11 days. Includes contacting members, negotiating payment arrangements, counseling on financial obligations, and documenting outcomes.
  • Process consumer and indirect loans from approval to disbursement. Includes document preparation, verifications, cross-department coordination, and member communication.
  • Perform loan maintenance, imaging, and collateral perfection (titles, insurance tracking, etc.). Maintain compliance with loan policies.
  • Handle general member and department inquiries regarding loans and delinquencies. Serve as a liaison between departments and external vendors (e.g., title companies, insurance).
  • Prepare and recommend accounts for further action (repossession, legal, bankruptcy). Perform required skip tracing and disposition of collateral.
  • Prepare and file bankruptcy documentation. Attend hearings and process court correspondence as required.
  • Attend trainings, team meetings, and support special projects or audits as needed. Participate in monthly classification meetings and internal reporting.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • 6 months to 2 years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience
  • High school education or GED
