Billing Specialist - Home Care - Full Time

Full Time | Days | 35 hours per week | On site in Warwick, RI

Qualifications for a Billing Specialist - Home Care:

  • High school diploma.
  • Understanding of accounts receivable principles and protocols.
  • Medicare billing experience preferred.
  • 3 or more years of experience in the business office, in a health care-related field preferred.
  • Proficient using MS Outlook, Excel and ability to learn additional programs as needed.

The Billing Specialist - Home Care is a vital member of the home care team responsible for submitting claims to Medicare and other third party payors for home care services provided. The Biller researches, appeals, and resolves denied claims and claims paid different from billed. The Biller is a detail oriented and well-organized person with a high degree of computer literacy and the ability to successfully operate within time parameters.

Responsibilities for a Billing Specialist - Home Care:

  • Track receivables by maintaining spreadsheet and documenting conversations.
  • Contact Medicare and other third party payor sources for denied claims and claims paid different from billed amount while referencing supporting documentation.
  • Serves as a resource to administration, clinical, and scheduling staff regarding third-party reimbursable services.
  • Process Medicare billing, transmit RAP's and final bills, post adjustments to A/R.
  • Act as a backup to payroll during absences.
