Job Description

SUMMARY: Large Apartment Community in Plainsboro, NJ area is looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician. Responsibilities include but are not limited to helping to maintain the grounds and buildings, preparing apartments for new residents, completing service requests for existing residents and assisting in snow removal. Qualified candidates must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, the ability to go up and downstairs frequently, the ability to lift 10-35lbs regularly. Being a part of on-call rotation is a must and candidate must live within 30 minutes from the property.


Experience and strong working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and appliances is required. HVAC knowledge is required and HVAC and EPA certification is preferred. Experience in Apartment Maintenance or Hotel Maintenance is preferred. Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and paid time off is available after 90-days of employment. Great housing discount is available!


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Painting, structural repairs of masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings.
  • Performs ground maintenance, such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse.
  • Responsible for general upkeep of the property
  • Assists other departments as requested, including moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
  • Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor for completion
  • Addresses residents requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintains the grounds by picking up trash.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge of hand tools.
  • Paints interior and exterior walls and trim.
  • Repairs parking lot and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials, and concrete.
  • Operates snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks.
  • Maintains and repairs buildings' plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches and fuses.
  • Maintains and repairs wood parts of buildings.
  • Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines and equipment such as truck, street sweeper, and riding mower.
  • When on-call, is required to respond to all emergency calls onsite within 30 minutes of receiving call.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of ventilation/air conditioning, heating, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and other generally accepted maintenance skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
