Organization Overview
The Marlene Hess Center for Research in Womens Health and Biomedicine is bringing together Rockefeller scientists from diverse elds to focus specically on womens health and biology using the powerful lens of sex dierences. This Center is a response to mounting evidence that women and men manifest and experience disease dierently and respond dierently to medicines. Increasing sex-specic and sex-dierentiating scientic knowledge will elucidate the mechanisms of normal biological processes and provide insight into the pathological mechanisms underlying disease. We hope that basic scientific research into sex differences will eventually result in improved medical care for females and males alike.
Overview
**This is a part-time position working 17.5 hours per week**
Reporting to Dr. Agata Smogorzewska, Skoler Horbach Family Professor and the Director of the Marlene Hess Center for Research in Women's Health and Biomedicine, the research manager will play a central role in the life and operation of the Hess Center.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
+ **Research development:** Through reviewing existing literature, identification of knowledge gaps, and formulation of focused research questions, the manager will assist Professor Smogorzewska in guiding further development of the center. To engage and educate the community, they will identify the newest discoveries in basic and translational women's health research and aid in selecting appropriate researchers to lecture at the university. They will build an informative website, which will track and disseminate research progress and publicize discoveries made by Hess Center researchers and those working in this area around the globe.
+ **Research Support:** The research manager will assist Professor Smogorzewska with administration of the Hess Center internal grants program and with the review process, including securing external reviewers as needed. They will help gather and write up material needed for annual reporting requirements for the donor.
+ **Management of Center Meetings, and Seminars:** The research manager will lead planning efforts and project meetings, seminars, symposiums, workshops, and Center-wide and group-specific team-building events.
+ **Administration:** The research manager will serve as the point person administratively for the Hess Center, interacting with RU Head of Labs, scientists, Academic Affairs, Finance, Development, the Dean's Office, and other RU offices as needed. Together with Finance, they will prepare financial reports. Performs additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field is required.
+ Must possess prior demonstrated experience in research administration.
+ At least 3 years of experience in the operational management of a collaborative center, scientific research, or in academic setting is required.
+ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders, including academic scientists, university lab support staff, and leadership.
+ Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are essential.
+ Must have the highest level of integrity, intellectual capability, professionalism, honesty, and loyalty.
+ Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite applications and other electronic applications is required.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ An advanced degree, such as a Ms. or a Ph.D. is highly desired.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
