POSITION SUMMARY:
The Orleans County YMCA has a part time, 20 to 25 hour per week, opening for a Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing the expertise, leadership and resources needed to support cleaning and maintenance of the branch, its operational programs, and planned maintenance activities. The position provides leadership and training to the maintenance and housekeeping teams, and oversees and coordinates facility service vendors as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides overall coordination of facility and property maintenance and cleanliness, including planning and developing preventative maintenance programs for all facility systems.
- Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems.
- Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. Oversees all contractors that work in the facility and grounds. May request and review bids, and recommend selection of contractors.
- Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building departments, etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.
- Provides input for the development of the facility budget, which supports preventative and annual maintenance plans. Monitors expenditures against budget.
- Advises management on maintenance issues and projects as requested.
- Ensures that equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.
- Serves as a leader to ensure facility is cleaned properly, projects are completed in a timely manner, and that a weekly and annual maintenance schedule is executed effectively.
- Supervise and coordinate all maintenance and branch repairs. Surveys the campus multiple times daily, addressing needed repairs for safety and aesthetics, while reporting more in-depth requirements to the Senior Program Director
- available to work off-hour shifts to accommodate work that must be completed at night, oversee vendors as needed and/or support special events
- Identifies potential safety hazards, takes necessary steps to reduce risks.
- Engage members and staff whenever possible, seeking to develop meaningful, positive, cause driven relationships.
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned by Branch Director and/or Facility Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's Degree in a related technical field required; a minimum 2 years of industry experience with carpentry and/or facility management activities, is preferred and may substitute for associates degree.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience with maintenance and housekeeping practices.
- Self-disciplined, with strong communication skills, well-organized and able to respond appropriately in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas.
- CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 60 days of employment.
- Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Harassment training required upon hire.
- Ability and current license to drive with record that meets YMCA standards.
- Familiarity with personal computers is helpful.
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit or stand for an extended period of time, climb ladders, walk, shovel snow, plow snow, lift and/or move 50-75 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity.
The work is performed both indoors and out, and may require travel to various locations. While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to prevailing weather conditions.
