Job Description
This full-time Pharmacy Filling Technician role focuses on accurately receiving, transcribing, and entering resident prescriptions in a fast-paced long-term-care pharmacy setting. You will play a key role in dispensing, filling, packaging, and preparing medications for shipment while delivering excellent customer service and ensuring high standards of accuracy and safety.
Responsibilities
+ Receive resident prescriptions and verify completeness and accuracy of the information provided.
+ Transcribe and enter prescription data into the pharmacy's operating and order entry systems with a high level of accuracy.
+ Dispense medications according to established procedures and regulatory requirements.
+ Fill, package, and label medications for residents in a long-term-care setting.
+ Prepare medications and orders for shipment, ensuring correct packaging and documentation.
+ Perform data entry tasks related to prescription processing, order fulfillment, and resident records.
+ Support prescription intake by reviewing, organizing, and prioritizing incoming orders.
+ Use pharmacy computer systems and related technology to manage workflow and track orders.
+ Collaborate with pharmacy staff to maintain an efficient, organized, and safe work area.
+ Provide courteous and professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
+ Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, and applicable regulations to protect patient safety.
+ Work scheduled shifts reliably, including later shifts and occasional Saturdays, while remaining on your feet for extended periods.
Responsibilities
+ Review denied prior authorization cases for Medicare and Medicaid members, with a primary focus on Medicare appeals.
+ Make 30-60 outbound calls per shift to members and other relevant parties to obtain missing or clarifying information.
+ Communicate clearly and empathetically with Medicare and elderly members who may be frustrated about medication denials.
+ Gather and document clinical and administrative details related to medications, including injectable therapies administered in a doctor's office.
+ Accurately enter and update case information in the appropriate systems and databases.
+ Prepare complete and organized case files and forward them to pharmacists for final determination on whether to uphold or overturn denials.
+ Follow established appeals procedures, guidelines, and timelines to ensure efficient and compliant case handling.
+ Collaborate with pharmacists and other team members as needed to clarify case details and support timely decision-making.
Required Skills
+ Active pharmacy technician license.
+ Minimum 2 years of Experience working in a pharmacy or managed care environment.
+ Knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication terminology, and prior authorization processes.
+ Familiarity with appeals, managed care, claims, and denial workflows.
+ Strong customer service skills over the phone
Remote role: Preferably located at South or North Carolina/Arizona/Florida/Alabama/Texas/Florida

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
