**Role** **Summary:**
You will report to the Managing Director, Engineering, and can be located in either Overland Park or Wichita. You will have 10+ years of Engineering and leadership experience. You will have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, and a Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred. This position leads the Engineering department for Kansas Gas Service statewide. Some travel to the other service areas (Topeka, Wichita, and Overland Park) is expected for this role every month, mostly day trips.
**What You Will Do**
Directs engineering and construction activities of company and subsidiaries to assure that projects are completed in accordance with applicable professional standards, design-centered procedures and corporate procedures and guidelines.
Direct company engineering and construction activities including but not limited to:
+ Pipeline design, construction, commercial, operation, and maintenance projects
+ Measurement, regulation, odorization, and control facilities
+ Gas conditioning and compressed natural gas facilities
+ Pressure vessels
+ Pipeline system capacities
+ Pipeline systems throughput and capacity analyses
+ Research and development of new and existing materials, tools, and equipment
+ Pipeline integrity program DOT compliance
Manage and direct employees engaged in project management, engineering services, installation and maintenance of communications equipment, pipeline facilities record keeping, and environmental activities.
Administer environmental and technical training programs ensuring compliance with company and governmental requirements.
Conduct material failure and/or structural analysis; define standards for engineering, pipeline construction, and facilities performance; and develop/revise policies and procedures.
Provide technical and engineering assistance to other departments, regions, management, governmental and regulatory agencies, company attorneys, industry groups, and others on matters related to projects and operations, policies, procedures, contracts, material selection, and governmental/regulatory rules, regulations, and activities.
Research, analyze, prepare, and/or approve information including but not limited to:
+ Pipeline systems design criteria
+ Structural and/or material failure analysis
+ Policies and procedures
+ Contracts
+ Technical and governmental reports
+ Material selection
+ Engineering economics and business cases development
+ Research and development projects
Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

**What You Will Need**
Minimum Bachelor's Degree engineering and/or project management, other related field and the following job-related experience:
Experience with and thorough knowledge of pipeline and related facility design and construction for commercial, operation, and maintenance projects; measurement, regulation, and control facilities; gas conditioning and compressor facilities; and pressure vessels.
Experience with material failure and structural analysis.
Experience - Application of math, algebraic formulas, statistical methods, and calculus.
Experience in use and function of tools and equipment applicable to position including accessing and utilizing computer applications.
Experience with and training related to:
+ Operating policies and procedures
+ Communications skills/customer relations Industry standards and governmental codes, rules, and regulations.
+ Development of technical training programs
+ Regulatory inspection and material testing programs
+ FERC processes and requirements
+ Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration / DOT inspection protocols
Experience identifying, researching, evaluating, and prioritizing problems and situations and providing appropriate actions, alternatives, and/or recommendations.
Experience advising, directing, negotiating, and communicating effectively.
Experience interacting, directing, delegating and/or communicating effectively. Working knowledge of personnel policies and procedures.
Experience developing information and making presentations to groups and individuals
Experience researching, composing, and preparing contracts, engineering studies, policies, procedures, reports, and technical correspondence.
Experience reading and interpreting governmental regulations, codes, and standards, manuals, policies, procedures, contracts, specifications, and various reports and correspondence.
Read and write fluently in English.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) strongly preferred, Engineer degree required based on job responsibilities, VP approval for waiver of engineering degree requirement.
Minimum Applicable driver's license.
Requires travel to other company offices, facilities, and job sites.
Mobility to travel in and around office facilities and around job sites out of doors.
Communicate and/or exchange information; conduct oral presentations.
Visual abilities sufficient to perform job duties.
