Jump-start your career as a(an) Lead Transporter today with St. David's Round Rock Medical Center. **Job Summary and Qualifications** As a Lead Transporter, you will deliver high quality, patient-centered care by transporting patients following safety processes. Under the supervision of the Director of Throughput and the Transport Coordinator, you will assist the hospital staff in providing patient transport and care in accordance with transport skills/training and the needs of the hospital. You will comply with all hospital policies/procedures. You will assist with ongoing training and/or precepting of new and current employees as directed by the Transport Coordinator. You will be responsible for ensuring new processes, equipment and other changes are communicated and/or taught to other Transporters. You will be responsible for ensuring resources are allocated fairly, ensuring appropriate time clock use and assigning breaks for the transport staff. You will be responsible for managing the teletracking board for patient transport priorities and delegation. + You will ensure proper handling of patients with comfort and safety + You will transport patients to and from all departments and procedural areas needed, verifying proper location, isolation status and patient identity + You will communicate with unit nursing staff about transfer prior to transporting patient from patient's room and when returning to patient room + You will follow guidelines documented on request for transport + You will demonstrate agility by conveying multiple items (e.g. stretcher and IV pole) + You will ensure availability of adequate transport equipment at beginning and end of each shift + You will provide direct assistance to the bedside staff when needed + You will always maintain patient privacy and dignity as allowed and ensure confidentiality is maintained + You will maintain a clean and safe work environment + You will verbalize location of emergency equipment in department/room/area + You will ensure equipment (stretcher) is functioning properly and demonstrates protocol to handle malfunctions + You will follow hospital and department policy for Standard Precautions or category of isolation appropriate to patient + You will demonstrate appropriate customer service skills with all customers + You will assist with maintaining adequate quantities of supplies/equipment in patient rooms, storage rooms, and notifying appropriate person(s) of items to be ordered **What qualifications you will need:** + Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date + Minimum of 1 year of transporter/direct patient care experience **Benefits** St. David's Round Rock Medical Center, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
