SUMMARY
Responsible for providing support to the accounting department and other departments within the credit union. Keys daily worksheets to the general ledger system, ensures files are complete and maintained as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Management reserves the right to change or modify the functions of this job as required to meet the needs of the organization.
Responsible for reviewing and balancing daily on-line transactions.
Responsible for G/L posting, record maintenance, and/or journal entry preparation to include returned items and credit card activity.
Responsible for reconciliation of GL Accounts and check registers.
Maintains filing system for all accounting records.
Prepares necessary reports requested by management such as cash letter, share branding, and compromised reports.
Performs other duties as requested by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year of related accounting experience and/or teller training in a financial institution or an equivalent combination of accounting education and experience. An exceptional balancing record is required and thorough knowledge of teller transactions and/or bookkeeping experience is preferred. Experience with computer-based accounting systems is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Working knowledge and ability to use a PC computer with spreadsheet applications and 10-key calculator. Excellent organizational skills are needed.
