Position Overview We are looking for a highly skilled and driven IT Security Engineer to join our team. This position plays a key role in defending Cyprus Credit Union's enterprise infrastructure. You will help implement, monitor, and improve security systems, protect data and assets from threats, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to our evolving security strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Security Operations and Engineering

  • Take ownership of assigned tools, across on premise/cloud environments, and continually make recommendations to improve the companies' ability to identify, protect, detect, respond, and recover from threats.
  • Propose and lead security projects that improve the organization's security posture.
  • Research, test, deploy, and maintain security solutions.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to architecture, threat hunting, IR procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of assigned duties and adjust workflows or strategies to enhance performance and improve security posture.
  • Conduct system audits, verify baseline configurations, and detect anomalies activity.
  • Monitor and respond to security alerts, investigate threats, and ensure timely triage within defined service levels.
  • Identify patterns in security events and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in on-call rotations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
  • Assist in creating and delivering security awareness training.
  • Develop metrics and reports to assess and communicate the organization's security posture.




Incident Response

  • Assist with incident response and system stability issues as they occur. This may include involvement outside of regular work hours, and responsiveness is required.
  • Influence the planning and execution of incident response and postmortem exercises, with a focus on creating measurable benchmarks to show progress (or deficiencies requiring additional attention).
  • Coordinate incident response efforts and document findings.

Vulnerability Management

  • Develop, maintain, and mature the vulnerability management program.
  • Monitor and validate asset inventory and scan coverage.
  • Prioritize vulnerabilities based on risk and business impact.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and effective remediation.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in IT security or a related field.
  • Personal labs or projects demonstrating hands-on experience preferred.
  • Industry recognized IT and IT Security focused certifications.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information Security, or a related discipline.

Skills and Characteristics

  • Seeks to develop and demonstrates Humility, Initiative, Tenacity, Problem Solving, Curiosity, Responsiveness and Kaizen (Continuous Improvement).
  • Capable of identifying problems (difference between ideal and the current condition) and recommending thoughtful solutions by conducting root cause analysis.
  • Familiar with problem solving/kaizen tools like A3, 5-Why, PDCA cycle, the scientific method, 5S, and Genchi Genbutsu.
  • Leverages AI but analyzes the output critically and recognizes its place.
  • Ability to communicate verbally, in writing and through drawings/diagrams.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of principles such as Least Privilege, Defense in Depth, Zero Trust, Risk Management and CIA triad.
  • Possess a working knowledge of networking concepts, including basic protocols, IP addressing, and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Experience with tooling such as SIEMs, EDR, vulnerability scanners, firewalls, and identity access management tools.
  • Familiarity with scripting or automation tools is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to document complex procedures and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
