FUNCTION: The Civil/Structural Engineer is responsible for performing structural engineering design, analysis and documentation in support of engineered systems, equipment, and facilities developed by James Fisher Technologies. This role contributes to the development of structural solutions that support project requirements, regulatory compliance, and safe operation within nuclear, industrial, and government environments. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, the Civil Structural Engineer develops structural calculations, specifications, and design documentation while coordinating with mechanical, systems, and project engineers to ensure structural elements are effectively integrated into overall project designs. The role also supports design reviews, technical evaluations, and engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work on a computer (standing or sitting) for most of the day and use standard office equipment. The ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers and vendors is essential. Will lift and carry objects, materials, or equipment, typically under 50 pounds. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing and crawling to access and inspect equipment or systems may also be necessary.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Primarily a shop environment with work regularly performed in the fabrication/machine shop and outdoor testing areas. JFT has implemented a 9/80 work schedule, and the office is closed every other Friday.

Under applicable DOE orders and client contracts, non‑U.S. citizen candidates (including lawful permanent residents) may require an approved DOE Foreign National Visit/Assignment (FNVA) before beginning work or accessing project information. Because this position requires immediate access and project timelines do not accommodate new government approval processing, JFT may be unable to initiate or sponsor new FNVA approval processes or defer start dates pending FNVA approval for this role.
