Job Summary
The Sous Chef position works under the Director, Restaurant and Hospitality and supports all activities of the Restaurant and Hospitality Department and Dining Room. The position is responsible for quality of meals served, quality of service delivery during meal service and for compliance with special diets offered by the community.
What You'll Do:
Assist in menu planning, meal preparation, and the creation of new recipes that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of our residents.
Prepare meals for both regular and therapeutic diets according to medical provider orders.
Ensure food is prepared, cooked, and presented using proper food safety and sanitation techniques.
Monitor food temperatures and storage to ensure safety, freshness, and quality.
Collaborate with the Dining Services Director on training, scheduling, ordering, and inventory management.
Supervise and support kitchen and dining associates, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area during all phases of food preparation and service.
Participate in special events and resident celebrations by preparing meals and catering services.
What We're Looking For:
2+ years of progressive culinary experience; prior senior living or healthcare dining experience is a plus.
Previous supervisory or lead cook experience preferred.
ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire); knowledge of federal, state, and local food safety regulations.
Passion for working with seniors and delivering exceptional customer service.
Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods and safely lift up to 50 pounds.
