Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist First Commerce in fulfilling our Vision of Empowering Generations, Transforming Communities. This is achieved through delivering Remarkable Member Service as defined by our Service Standards as well as building and maintaining strong member relationships through identification of member's financial needs and effectively recommending appropriate products and services to meet those needs.

The Accounts Payable Clerk performs routine accounting duties to assist with accounts payable processing and general financial reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processes vendor invoices and team member reimbursements through our accounts payable system – includes scanning, general ledger coding for management's approval, and obtaining vendor W-9's prior to payment.
  • Processes payments for approved invoices and reimbursements via multiple payment methods. Communicates with credit union management and external vendors to resolve invoice and payment issues.
  • Assists with accounts payable software updates.
  • Submits 945 Backup Withholding deposits daily and maintains the IRS Form 945 schedule for year-end filing.
  • Processes monthly lease invoices for FCCU tenants and tracks tenant lease payments and delinquencies.
  • Trains new Accounts Payable team members on the accounts payable system.
  • Assists with annual tax filings, including preparing and maintaining applicable reports.
  • Assists with the preparation of the monthly book closings for both FCCU Foundation, Inc., and the credit union's CUSO, Six Pillars Financial.
  • Reconciles GL Accounts, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a basic understanding of the principles of accounting.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, follow-up, and organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to operate a Windows-based computer and have a basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Must be diligent and self-motivated with attention to detail.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Performs job duties in accordance with policies established by the Board of Directors under the rules and regulations set by the National Credit Union Administration, the State of Florida and any applicable State laws for financial centers located in other States.
  • Complies with Reg E, BSA, OFAC and CIP requirements such as reporting suspicious or unusual activity to manager.
  • Fully supports in actions and words First Commerce's Vision, Mission, Core Values and Service Standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 1+ years of experience in the accounting department of a company.
  • Prior experience in a credit union or other financial institution is preferred.
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
