Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to support healthcare record operations in Bloomington, Minnesota. This Contract position focuses on maintaining accurate patient documentation, protecting sensitive health information, and ensuring records are available to authorized users in a timely manner. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable working with electronic medical record systems in a regulated healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and organize paper and electronic patient files to support accurate, complete, and secure medical documentation.
- Enter and update demographic details, diagnoses, treatment information, and related medical data within electronic record systems.
- Review charts and documents for missing or inconsistent information and resolve discrepancies through careful follow-up.
- Process requests for medical records from patients, providers, and approved third parties while following release procedures and authorization requirements.
- Retrieve, file, and track clinical documents such as lab results, reports, and correspondence with a high level of accuracy.
- Partner with clinical and administrative teams to promote consistent documentation practices across patient records.
- Monitor record request activity, maintain logs, and prepare routine tracking reports for documentation workflows.
- Handle incoming and outgoing communication related to medical records and support day-to-day administrative recordkeeping tasks. Requirements
- Prior experience working with medical records, health information management, or a similar healthcare administrative function.
- Working knowledge of electronic medical record platforms such as Epic, NextGen, or related EMR systems.
- Strong data entry skills with the ability to process high volumes of numeric and text-based information accurately.
- Understanding of patient privacy standards and the importance of handling confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to manage multiple requests, prioritize deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced setting.
- Clear communication skills for coordinating with staff, patients, and authorized external contacts.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities when maintaining and auditing documentation.
