This role is responsible for delivering thoughtful, functional, and visually compelling contract furniture solutions tailored to client needs. This role manages all phases of the design process-from initial programming and conceptual layouts to final specifications and installation drawings-while collaborating with internal teams, manufacturer partners, and clients. A successful candidate brings creativity, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to service, ensuring each project is executed with precision, clarity, and customer satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the Design Process
- Own the full design process from initial intake to final deliverables, ensuring alignment with project scope, timelines, and client expectations.
- Develop space plans, finish packages, working drawings, and 3D visuals that meet functional, aesthetic, and code requirements.
- Conduct field verification, manage documentation and revisions, and prepare clear validation packages for client approval.
Collaborate with Clients & Teams
- Act as a trusted design partner, actively participating in client and internal meetings to guide project direction.
- Provide live design support and lead or contribute to showroom tours and presentations to facilitate decision-making and keep projects moving forward.
- Ensure design solutions align with client expectations, budget, and overall project goals.
Budgeting, Specification & Product Application
- Translate client needs into effective, budget-conscious product solutions that align with project goals.
- Develop accurate CET specifications and coordinate pricing, freight, warranty, and contract details.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to source COM and non-standard items and ensure all costs are captured accurately.
Maintain Design Excellence & Strategic Insight
- Uphold high design standards through organized documentation, adherence to protocols, and independent management of deliverables and deadlines.
- Stay informed on industry trends, product updates, and client needs to inform strategic, forward-thinking design solutions.
- Contribute to team growth and long-term client success by sharing insights, promoting the company's value, and identifying future opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in interior design or related field preferred
- 3-5 years of contract furniture design experience; dealership background strongly preferred
- Proficient in AutoCAD, CET, and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment
