Description Job Title: VA Benefits Advisor Summary - This is a contingent opportunity and would begin work upon the contract award. The Veterans Affairs Transition Assistance Program (VA TAP) supports Service members and Veterans as they transition from military to civilian life. Through a structured curriculum and personalized support, VA TAP delivers education and career guidance, benefits briefings, and resources to promote post-service success. As service members leave military service and return to life as civilians, they will need the proper tools and information necessary for a smooth transition. VA Benefits Advisors are a team of qualified individuals within the larger TAP who will provide support and facilitate connections to meet the unique needs of the service member and their family. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Provide onsite support at military installations (both CONUS and OCONUS) + Conduct VA Benefits and Services briefings + Deliver established training curriculum, ensuring course content and delivery methods follow established training objectives. + Perform one-on-one engagements with service members + Support pre-separation counseling + Provide support at Reserve, National Guard and Military Life Cycle (MLC) events + Establish and maintain a network with other resource experts + Handle sensitive and personally identifiable information + Provide daily reporting on events and interactions + Adhere to VA policies and professional conduct standards Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities Required Qualifications + Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and relevant experience OR four years of relevant work/military experience + Experience making presentations and facilitating training for large and small groups + Knowledge of the tenets of adult education and the development of training curricula based on the adult learning model. + Knowledge of the military and the challenges of the transitioning service member population. + Proficiency in using office automation equipment and software + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent oral and written communication skills. + Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Preferred Qualifications + Understanding of various VA benefit programs. + Experience working with military clients. + Understanding of current veteran issues and challenges pre- and post-transition Other Requirements + Must pass a pre-employment background check and be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance. + This position requires access to U.S. Government facilities and systems. Physical Demands: Works in office areas. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. Uses personal computer, telephones, copiers, printers and other office equipment.
