Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team on a contract basis with the potential for a long-term position in Portland, Oregon. This role is centered on providing critical financial insights and cost management expertise within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will excel in cost analysis, inventory oversight, and collaborating across departments to drive accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and manage cost accounting processes to support manufacturing operations.
- Oversee inventory management and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Audit and validate costs, addressing discrepancies such as missing freight charges and outdated records.
- Collaborate with teams to streamline and implement cost change updates.
- Evaluate and report on standard costs versus purchase price variances to identify areas for improvement.
- Contribute to the implementation and testing of Microsoft Dynamics 365, including managing bills of materials (BOMs).
- Assist in transitioning from standard costing to a weighted average costing model for raw materials.
- Review and interpret data to provide actionable insights that align with business objectives.
- Take detailed meeting notes and proactively follow up on action items to ensure completion. Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency in D365 and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong knowledge of standard costing practices and inventory management.
- Proven ability to analyze data, solve problems, and think critically.
- Detail-oriented with the capacity to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while also collaborating with teams.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with various departments.
