Description of Work Unit
Colorado State University is a Carnegie research-extensive land grant university committed to the ideal that educated and motivated people can make a difference in the world. The Office of Financial Aid operates under the Division of Enrollment and Access and provides student-centered assistance by working under Federal, State and University guidance to enable students to enroll, manage their finances, achieve their academic goals, and graduate in a timely manner. Seventy-five percent of CSU students are financial aid recipients, and OFA disburses over $300 million of financial aid annually. OFA seeks professionals who wholeheartedly believe in access to and success in higher education.
Position Summary
The Scholarship Specialist serves as a primary member of the Scholarships team within Financial Aid Operations, which has collective oversight of all scholarships at Colorado State University, including admissions-based merit scholarships, institutional scholarships, CSU Foundation scholarships, Athletic aid, various partner programs within CSU , and external scholarship processing. The position reports directly to the Senior Assistant Director for Scholarship Programs.
The Scholarship Specialist provides broad-based support to multiple functional areas within the scholarship team, with a primary focus on various scholarship programs, supporting some campus partner programs, providing data to CSU Foundation and various scholarship partners. The Specialist also works on bi-weekly reports to ensure proper administration of institutional scholarship funds and that donor fund agreements and requirements are upheld. This is a twelve-month, full-time permanent position.
Inaccordance with Federal regulatory requirements, all finalists must be in good standing on any outstanding Federal Title IV student loans and cannot have a repayment due for a Title IV grant.
Required Job Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the liberal arts, sciences, engineering, business, arts, agricultural sciences, or related field.
+ Experience working in a higher education setting, with responsibilities related to student services - including financial aid, admissions, registration/records, academic advising, student accounts, or student affairs.
+ Excellent written communications skills, as demonstrated by application materials submitted.
+ Demonstrated experience delivering excellent customer service to students, families, and both on- and off-campus constituents.
Preferred Job Qualifications
+ Demonstrated experience managing federal, state, institutional, and/or external financial aid programs, budgets, and processes.
+ Working knowledge of Ellucian Banner student information system.
+ Working knowledge of Blackbaud Award Management software.
+ Three years of full-time professional experience working in a Title IV Financial Aid Office with a demonstrated knowledge of federal student financial aid regulations.
+ Master's degree in higher education or related field.

+ Participates as an active member of the Scholarship Team within Operations to evaluate processes and procedures that impact scholarship distribution across the University.
+ Review eligibility for financial aid awards and ensures program compliance within the Scholarships team. This includes, but is not limited to, awarding and revising awards for students based on scholarship eligibility and requirements.
+ Collaborate with campus partners, the Office of Financial Aid team, scholarship foundations, and students to ensure timely application of scholarships to student accounts.
+ Assists as needed with projects in the Scholarships area, including but not limited to support for scholarship processing, compilation of data for scholarship donors and departments, scholarship application review and selection of various institutional scholarships, serving on the Scholarship appeals committee.
