Job Description
Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Lead to join a manufacturing organization in Charlotte, North Carolina and oversee daily payables activity with accuracy and consistency. This position plays a central role in keeping vendor payments on schedule, maintaining reliable financial records, and supporting the broader finance team with reporting and operational improvements. The ideal candidate brings hands-on accounting experience, sound judgment when resolving discrepancies, and a strong commitment to confidentiality and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Verify supplier invoices for completeness, accuracy, and proper approval before payment is processed.
- Record invoice details and general ledger coding in the accounting system with a high level of precision.
- Investigate billing discrepancies, missing documentation, and payment exceptions to prevent delays and resolve issues efficiently.
- Coordinate payment activity, including check runs and ACH transactions, to ensure obligations are met on time.
- Reconcile assigned balances and accounts, ensuring outstanding items are identified and cleared appropriately.
- Partner with finance leadership by preparing reports and assisting with special analysis or ad hoc requests.
- Contribute to initiatives that strengthen accounts payable procedures, increase efficiency, and support finance-related projects, including system implementation efforts when needed.
- Safeguard sensitive company, supplier, and financial information while adhering to internal controls and applicable policies. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 3 years of accounting or finance experience, with exposure to accounts payable responsibilities.
- Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Proficiency with invoice coding, payment processing, and general accounts payable workflows.
- Experience using an ERP or accounting platform; related implementation exposure is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage responsibilities independently.
- Effective communication skills, including written and spoken English; fluency in the local language is also required.
