Description We are seeking a Payroll Specialist with strong system expertise and a background in professional services environments. This role will be responsible for processing complex payrolls, ensuring compliance across multiple pay structures, and supporting ongoing system improvements. The ideal candidate brings a mix of technical payroll knowledge, systems experience, and the ability to navigate project-based or billable-hour environments. Experience with certified payroll and system implementations is highly valued. RESPONSIBILITIES + Process multi-state payroll on a bi-weekly or semi-monthly basis with a high level of accuracy + Manage payroll for salaried, hourly, and project-based employees + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws + Handle certified payroll reporting, including prevailing wage requirements + Maintain and audit payroll data within HRIS and payroll systems + Support system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements + Partner with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies + Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and audit documentation + Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner Requirements Experience & Background + 3+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience + Experience in professional services, consulting, or project-based environments + Exposure to certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting Systems & Technical Skills + Payroll/HRIS: Dayforce (Ceridian) or comparable platform (required) + ERP/Project Systems: Deltek Vantagepoint or similar (strongly preferred) + Microsoft Excel: Intermediate to advanced (pivot tables, lookups, data validation) Certifications (Preferred) + Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) Additional Strengths + Experience supporting payroll-related system implementations or upgrades + Strong attention to detail and compliance focus + Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
