Job Overview

The Human Resources Team Leader is an integral part of the Human Resources Department. The individual is responsible for all administrative aspects of the department such as general teammate and applicant inquiries, maintains all general employment files and assists with a variety of teammate events and initiatives in addition to other administrative duties. The Human Resources Team Leader handles every task with integrity and confidentiality. This highly visible role also provides administrative support to the Human Resources team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures wages are paid in accordance with policies and Maldives laws (e.g. minimum wage requirements, overtime provisions in place, separation pay, etc).

  • Manages teammates' expense claims to ensure appropriate teammates care and cost management.

  • Educates teammates on benefits packages' available and eligibility requirements.

  • Ensures that department has the available resources on hand to administer teammates benefits.

  • Assists in identifying key drivers of teammates satisfaction and supports managers in addressing issues with written plans and actions.

  • Monitor performances of teammates and provide feedback through teammates recognition, rewards, and disciplinary actions when necessary.

  • Take ownership of teammate's growth and be involved in career progression and succession planning of teammates.

  • Coach and train teammates in all teammates-related human resource information to appropriately respond to property teammates.

  • Be an exemplary role model in inspiriting teammates through strong demonstration of the Patina Culture and Service Philosophy.

  • Responsible for the daily administrative duties of the HR department which includes but not limited to; assisting to teammates or external parties' requests via emails and telephone calls, assist all candidates with application procedures, assisting management in screening resumes, and scheduling interviews.

  • Be fully aware of and maintain strict compliance to all the policies and procedure and standard operating procedure of the Human Resources Department, and also work place safety and security procedures set by the resort.

  • Administers the leaver process and co-ordinates departure process for teammates by ensuring they are guided accordingly and are issued with all necessary documents. Assist to coordinate and schedule exit interviews.

  • Ensures continuous internal communication flow by issuing HR newsletter and updating the notice boards with latest news.

  • Maintain a sense of urgency with whatever task is required and work as a team.

  • Prepare and review written documents (e.g., daily logs, business letters, memoranda, reports), including proofreading and editing written information to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Create and maintain proper filing systems for all documentation (e.g. teammates personnel file) within the department. Ensures strict confidentiality and security of teammates and property records, files, and information.

  • Ensure the teammate master file is up-to-date and ensure accurate maintenance of all teammates' records and files (e.g., interview documents, reference checks, personal information form, payroll instruction form, job application forms, department orientation checklist).

  • Handle grievances and resolve teammates' disciplinary matters. Keep a record under the appropriate system and ensures that the matters are resolved in a timely manner and with ultimate professionalism.

  • Always put the needs of guest first (in HR, the guests are our teammates). Actively listen to and consider the concerns of other teammates, responding appropriately and effectively. Handle sensitive issues with teammates and/or guests with tact, respect, diplomacy, and confidentiality. Report any teammate disciplinary issue to higher management.

  • Assists higher management in suggesting and coordinating welfare committee meetings, teammates' activities, recognition programs and team building activities in efforts to promote strong employer branding and employee relations.

  • Foster positive working environment for all teammates by performing periodical check-in with teammates to ensure satisfaction, maintain strong working relationship with one another.

  • Respond to questions, requests, and concerns from teammates and management regarding company and Human Resources programs, policies and guidelines.

  • Report work related accidents, or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager.

  • Protect the privacy and security of guests and teammates. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary materials and information.

  • Ensures that all c teammates' uniform and personal appearance are clean, hygienic, professional and in compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • Handle and report any service 'glitches' and report it under the appropriate system, resolve the issue and ensure that corrective actions and service recovery follow ups are action upon in a timely manner.

  • Report any issues or damages to the relevant department to ensure defect-free facilities and service amenities within the resort.

  • Ensures that working area is kept organised and clean at all times.

  • Order and track Human Resources office supplies and forms to ensure sufficient supplies for optimal operation of daily work.

  • Actively participate in all teammate activities.

  • Perform other duties or responsibilities that are reasonable as assigned by your immediate or manager.


Talent Profile:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree preferably in Human Resource Management.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in HR from an upscale hotel.

  • Good command in written and spoken English.

  • Good computer literacy especially Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • High degree of integrity.

  • Acute attention to details.

  • Positive "can do" attitude and flexible approach.

  • Personable and pleasant to deal with. Discreet, reliable, diplomatic.

  • Ability to multitask and produce quality output under pressure.

  • Self-motivated and Independent.

  • Conversant with the Maldives Legislations and HR Payroll Practises.
