We're searching for a Global Product Safety Compliance Senior Manager, a strategic, technically‑minded leader who thrives at the intersection of engineering, regulation, and product excellence. What You'll Do

As the leader of Wahl's Global Safety Compliance function, you'll drive strategy, streamline certification processes, and guide global partners in delivering safe, compliant products. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Manages the centralized global safety compliance function by: (a) applying for and maintaining safety certifications for products manufactured in Sterling; (b) maintaining and communicating the documented global process for safety certifications, ensuring the process continues to identify owners of each step and provides visibility to all stakeholders; (c) maintaining the database of required safety certifications and controlling standards; and (d) providing strategic direction to a global team of designated quality and compliance employees who facilitate international product safety certifications.
  • Stays current with all major country product certification requirements, including without limitation USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Japan, South America, South Africa, India, China, Taiwan, Korea, and Australia, and educates stakeholders on emerging regulatory trends.
  • Represents the company in trade groups, participating in discussions related to product safety and related regulatory activity.
  • Supports NPD by advising on preliminary concepts and reviewing prototypes to ensure designs comply with applicable safety standards, adhering to NPD deadlines.
  • Advises NPD on potential product safety improvements and ensures effective global communication of decisions to implement safety improvements.
  • Manages product testing related to safety, energy efficiency, and EMC requirements.
  • Ensures product literature and labeling contain content required by safety regulations and certification bodies. Gives guidance to Product Managers regarding safety approval marks on packaging.
  • Investigates product safety claims from customers, performing root cause and trend analysis and providing engineering expertise in product liability matters.
  • Manages the product recall process, including overseeing the written recall procedure, facilitating practice recalls, making engineering determinations regarding the existence of a product hazard, and preparing reports for regulatory agencies.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of work experience in a technical position with responsibility for safety compliance regulations where electrical knowledge has been learned and applied.
  • Ability to communicate effectively cross-functionally internally with Legal, NPD, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, and Customer Service.
  • Knowledge of the certification processes and ability to interact and communicate with local and international certification authorities.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to read and interpret product blueprints and specifications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to continually learn and ability to apply learning to our products as safety standards are updated to keep up with technology.
