Position Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting the Corporate Quality Manager with day-to-day operations of the Quality Department. This includes Safe Quality Food (SQF) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) compliance, managing labels, supplier documentation, nutritional management, and document control.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Performs documentation control for the Quality, Production and Shipping departments.
- Stay up to date on regulatory changes and inform cross-functional teams on necessary updates.
- Maintain and update customer and supplier approval documentation (i.e. Allera, Customer Portals).
- Complete customer paperwork as it pertains to food safety and quality, when requested.
- Maintain regulatory documentation, certifications, and records (and calibrations).
- Work closely with the new product development group on product formulation and nutritional information from a regulatory perspective.
- Prepare Export Paperwork and product testing in compliance with regulatory and customer standards.
- Acts as SQF Coordinator and performs all relevant duties including supporting audits.
- Perform/obtain USDA label approvals and remain up to date on label law changes. Review and approve product labels, ingredient statements, nutritional facts, and claims for regulatory accuracy.
- Work closely with marketing and sales to meet the needs of customer requests, specifications and COAs.
- Update Product Specifications as needed.
- Performs sensory tests when required
- Maintain select Smartsheets and ensure tasks get assigned/completed appropriately.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Four-year degree from college or university, preference given to a focus in Food Science, Animal Science, or a related field.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, and procedural manuals.
- Strong computer skills in utilizing an ERP system and Microsoft Suites.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Must be available for outside traveling as required (typically for training purposes).
- Industry, R&D, and/or Regulatory experience considered a plus.
