Join the City of Medicine Hat as a Storekeeper 1

Temporary (8 weeks) | Full time (35 hours per week)
On site | Starting at $32.07/hour

Are you organized, dependable, and ready to roll up your sleeves? The City of Medicine Hat is looking for a Storekeeper 1 for a temporary, position funded through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic warehouse setting while supporting the essential services that keep our city running smoothly. Your key responsibilities

  • Receive and issue stock using a computerized inventory control system.
  • Inspect, shelve, and distribute stock throughout the organization.
  • Prepare supplies as needed.
  • Conduct cycle counts and periodic inventory checks to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain the office, warehouse, and yard in a clean and organized manner.
  • Operate various tools and equipment, including pallet jack, hand truck and office equipment.

 

What you bring

  • A basic understanding of inventory systems and warehouse procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully.
  • A commitment to safety and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Willingness and physical capability to perform manual labour in a variety of weather and warehouse conditions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn inventory and ERP systems.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality and integrity.

 

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of work experience, preferably in a Stores or warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations is an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen, which includes testing for cannabis use.

This is a temporary position funded through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
