Are you looking for a flexible, part-time remote role with consistent daytime hours? Then this opportunity might be a great fit for you!

About the Company

Workbright is a Certified B Corp. We balance our purpose and profit as we consider our impacts on all stakeholders from a social, environmental, and governance perspective.

We're also a pretty great place to work. And don't just take our word for it! We're proud to be awarded a Best Place to Work 2020-2026 by Best Places to Work in Colorado (formerly Outside Magazine), as well as #5 in Best Companies for Remote Workers in 2026, and Inc. The Role

The Part-Time I-9 Compliance Specialist serves as the operational engine behind WorkBright's Full Service compliance offering. This role is responsible for proactively managing employee outreach and documentation follow-up to support 100% Form I-9 compliance for our customers.

This individual will balance high-volume communication with strong attention to detail, ensuring employees complete required documentation accurately and on time. You will act as both a friendly guide for employees navigating the onboarding process and a compliance-focused partner ensuring USCIS requirements are met.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, persistent, comfortable with technology, and energized by solving problems and driving tasks to completion.

This is a part-time remote position, estimated at approximately 25 hours per week during standard business hours. Flexible schedule outside of required attendance at ~3 hours of regular weekly team meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively engage employees through phone calls, SMS, and email outreach when onboarding or I-9 documentation is incomplete.
  • Manage high-volume follow-up activity to ensure no case goes more than one business day without action.
  • Review standard I-9 documentation for facial validity, legibility, and completeness in accordance with USCIS guidelines.
  • Provide professional, timely, and respectful communication while representing both WorkBright and customer employer brands.
  • Partner with customer HR teams by providing status updates and escalating complex compliance questions when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete all case management tasks with strong attention to detail.
  • Meet established service-level expectations and quality standards.
  • Follow existing operational processes while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Service Managers and Compliance Specialists to ensure a seamless customer experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–3 years of experience in HR, onboarding, compliance, customer support, operations, or similar professional environments.
  • Prior experience with Form I-9 processing or employment eligibility verification strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage high-volume tasks with accuracy and urgency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional, customer-service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and follow structured compliance-driven processes.
  • Strong technical aptitude and experience using workplace tools such as Slack, Asana, Trello, Intercom, Google Workspace, CRM systems, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working in SaaS, technology-enabled services, or remote collaborative environments is a plus.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong follow-through and professionalism.

Travel Required:

WorkBright is a 100% remote company; however some travel may be required for various in-person meetings with the team, estimated 1-3 trips per year.
