Job Description

Position Title: The KRUNK Movement Dance Coach

Immediate Supervisor: KRUNK Program Coordinator

Classification:

School Year Part-time (25 hours), hourly

Summer Seasonal Full-time, hourly

The KRUNK Movement Dance Coach is a highly motivated and experienced individual that will work closely with The KRUNK Movement program (ages 14-18) for the school and summer seasons. The KRUNK Movement dancers are a part of a larger group of students who focus on the different elements of hip-hop.

This individual will help program participants develop their technical skills in mainly hip-hop dance, choreography, musicality, rehearsal, and performance. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping students achieve their goals and will have a proven track record of their success in dance education. This is an hourly position starting at $20/hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with enrolled KRUNK students to develop their skills in dance technique, styles, and choreography.
  • Guide students on how to engage with an audience, use their movement effectively, and story-tell through performance
  • Provide appropriate feedback to help students improve their performance skills.
  • Lead creative and engaging lessons
  • Collaborate with Center of Life staff members to create a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Assist in planning and executing projects, events, and performances
  • Monitor student progress and adjust coaching techniques as needed
  • Commit to Center of Life's Summer Programming Hours (with preliminary staff orientations): Monday - Wednesday 9 AM - 5 PM, Thursdays 11 PM - 8 PM, Friday 8 AM - 4 PM
  • Commit to Center of Life's After-School Programming Hours: Monday - Friday 3 PM - 7 PM

General Expectations:

  • Participate as an active member at Center of Life
  • Adhere to all Center of Life Policies and Procedures
  • Attend Center of Life staff meetings, retreats, and mandatory events
  • Meet bi-weekly 1:1 with immediate supervisor
  • Adhere to the security, accuracy, operability of the daily communication and program reporting needs of Center of Life
  • Contribute to the development and sustainability of a collaborative and supportive work environment

Education and Qualifications:

  • Professional dance experience and/or education of 3 years minimum
  • Experience working in an educational setting or working directly with children aged K - 12
  • Excellent judgement and creative problem-solving skills including conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and timely manner
  • High energy, flexibility, willingness to collaborate, and proactively engage with children to build positive intergenerational relationships
  • Pennsylvania Criminal and Child Abuse clearances, FBI Criminal Background, PA Mandated Reporter Certificate, and National Sex Offender Registry Clearance
  • Commitment to the Center of Life mission
  • Classification: non-exempt
  • Must have a valid driver's license
