Our customer, The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is seeking a highly experienced and senior-level System Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide expert guidance and hands-on support for our complex, mission-critical enterprise infrastructure. The SME will be responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and security of server, storage, and cloud systems supporting critical national missions. This role requires deep expertise in virtualization, cloud computing, data center design, system administration, and DoD-specific security and compliance protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibility | Description |
System Architecture & Design | Lead the design, planning, and implementation of robust, scalable, and secure system architectures, including virtualized (VMware), hyper-converged (HCI), and cloud environments (AWS/Azure). |
Infrastructure Modernization | Evaluate existing enterprise infrastructure for performance bottlenecks, conduct capacity planning, and lead modernization initiatives to optimize resource utilization, enhance capabilities, and reduce operational costs. |
Security & Compliance | Ensure all system components, configurations, and software deployments comply with DoD directives, DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and other relevant security policies. Implement and manage zero-trust architectures. |
Advanced Troubleshooting | Serve as the final escalation point for complex and persistent system, storage, and virtualization issues, providing expert-level diagnostics and resolution. |
Technology Evaluation | Research, evaluate, test, and recommend new technologies and solutions, such as enterprise monitoring tools and cloud services, to enhance performance, security, and mission capability. |
Mentorship & Guidance | Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level system engineers, fostering skill development and ensuring adherence to best practices across the team. |
