Job Description

George Walton Academy (GWA) challenges students to excel in academics, athletics and the arts and to build character, leadership and curiosity. GWA is an independent, Pre-K-12, independent, college-preparatory school located on 62 beautiful acres in Monroe, Georgia, less than one hour from the state capitol of Atlanta.

George Walton Academy currently seeks an Administrative Assistant to College Counseling. This role supports the College Counseling Office in maintaining records, prepping for programs, and scheduling conferences. The ideal candidate is highly organized and enjoys supporting students in the college application process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track and record college acceptances, scholarship awards, and All-State Distinctions
  • Maintain college counseling database
  • Organize academic documents for Junior Meetings (Test Scores, Transcripts, etc.)
  • Prepare materials for Grade Level Parent Nights (ex: Senior College Night)
  • Create and maintain senior hallway accolades
    • College Visits
    • College Acceptances Bulletin Board & Slideshow
    • College Matriculations
  • Assist in coordinating the Senior Mentor Breakfast, Senior Banquet, Baccalaureate and Graduation programs
  • Collaborate with Scholastic Imaging for ordering:
    • Caps and gowns
    • Diplomas, diploma cover and graduation seals
    • Graduation announcements
    • New faculty hoods and gowns
    • Senior cords and medals
  • Update and maintain senior perpetual award plaques
  • Schedule and coordinate all parent-teacher conferences for Middle and Upper School
  • Support counselors with daily administrative tasks

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Maintains confidentiality of college decisions and academic records

Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience with online web programs such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Desire to learn College Counseling Web Platform

Working Conditions:

  • School environment with moderate noise levels

Working Hours & Benefits:
