This role is central to the success of our schoolwide Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), ensuring alignment from strong Tier 1 instruction through targeted interventions and, when appropriate, referral for special education services. The MTSS/504 Coordinator leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of systems that support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success for all students.

The ideal candidate is a systems thinker and collaborative leader who thrives in coordinating complex processes, facilitating meaningful conversations, and ensuring accountability across teams. This individual balances precision and empathy-keeping student needs at the center while ensuring compliance, clarity, and consistency.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and manage all facets of the MTSS process across academic (reading, writing, math), behavior, and social-emotional domains
  • Ensure strong alignment between Tier 1 instruction, Tier 2/3 interventions, and special education referral processes
  • Facilitate MTSS problem-solving meetings, ensuring structured protocols and data-driven decision-making
  • Guide teams in identifying root causes and developing targeted, actionable intervention plans
  • Monitor fidelity of intervention implementation and ensure follow-through

Data, Progress Monitoring, and Accountability

  • Establish and maintain systems for tracking student progress across tiers
  • Support teams in analyzing universal screening and progress monitoring data
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of interventions, plans, and outcomes
  • Use continuous improvement cycles (e.g., Plan-Do-Study-Act) to refine systems and supports

READ Plan Oversight

  • Support the development, monitoring, and compliance of Colorado READ Plans
  • Ensure alignment between READ Plans and MTSS interventions
  • Lead the transition process from READ Plans to MTSS frameworks in grades 4–5
  • Collaborate with teachers to ensure effective literacy supports for students with Significant Reading Deficiency

  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and maintain accurate documentation
  • Monitor the implementation of accommodations and support staff in effective delivery

Collaboration and Communication

  • Serve as a central point of coordination for teachers, interventionists, specialists, and administration
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with families regarding student supports and plans
  • Collaborate with instructional coaches, APs, and team leads to strengthen Tier 1 instruction and intervention alignment
  • Provide training and support to staff on MTSS processes, data protocols, and intervention strategies
